Story Behind the Art:
Jorge Priori began working in textiles at in the early 1990s by working in his father's thread factory. By 2001, they had diversified into the creation of alpaca wool products. Jorge seeks to preserve a tradition that began during the Inca Empire, who so highly treasured it, the wool was reserved for royalty. 'Our clothes and blankets are created with the combed technique, which uses threads of different length and width to recreate the type of weave the Incas favored,' says Jorge, and his alpaca products showcase the material's unique attributes. Alpaca is considered a luxury fiber--soft as cashmere and lustrous as silk. It is durable as wool and extraordinarily light and warm; good for tweeds and fine gabardines. Alpaca fiber is naturally water-resistant, wrinkles less than wool, stronger than wool and has good elasticity.
The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.
